San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has completed its Disparity Study. The results will determine whether contracting at SFMTA continues to be race-neutral or whether SFMTA can consider the race and gender of the business owner when establishing contracting goals.
Some of the key findings include the following:
1. Woman-owned construction and professional services businesses are substantially underrepresented in contracts as prime contractors and subcontractors. As a result, there may be WBE goals.
2. Black American-owned construction firms are substantially underrepresented in construction contracts.
