City of San Pablo Beautification

Client: City of San Pablo

Overview:

The San Pablo Beautification Project was a collaborative effort between BrandGOV and the City of San Pablo, aimed at addressing the pressing issues of illegal dumping, littering, and improving community engagement within the San Pablo neighborhoods.

Challenges:

  • Illegal Dumping Epidemic: San Pablo was grappling with an excessive number of illegal dumping incidents, tarnishing the community’s aesthetics and environmental health.
  • Lack of Awareness: Many residents were unaware of existing community programs and resources, limiting their participation in local initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: There was a need to foster a sense of pride and responsibility within the community to reduce littering and dumping.

Objectives:

  • Reduce illegal dumping in San Pablo neighborhoods.
  • Increase awareness of community programs available.
  • Foster community pride to reduce littering and dumping.

Key Strategies:

Task 1: Outreach Plan

  • In-Person and Digital Approach: BrandGOV designed a comprehensive outreach plan comprising both in-person and digital strategies to maximize community reach.

Task 2.7: Postcard Development (Optional)

  • Postcards containing information about the Bush Ave pocket park and cleanup events were created and mailed to Old Town neighborhood addresses.

Task 3: Neighborhood Champions Program

  • A community engagement initiative was launched, the “Neighborhood Champions Program,” aiming to empower community members as liaisons for the beautification program.
  • Selection criteria were established, and two champions from distinct neighborhood zones were chosen to receive $2,000 stipends each.

  • Increased awareness of community programs.
  • Heightened community pride and reduced littering and dumping.
